Clifton (Cliff) Kilby

We first would like state that all information listed on this page is public information or from court hearings and/or depositions that Mr. Kilby was either part a of or is currently in litigation. Background of Cliff Kilby

Mr. Kilby is a retired Forsyth County Sheriff Deputy.  In 2014 he ran on the Republican ticket against the incumbent Sheriff Schatzman and he lost terribly.  It was so bad he didn’t even make it out of the single digits.  Schatzman went on to be elected Sheriff running unopposed on the Democratic ticket.  Kilby certainly saw his opportunity and decided after being a lifelong Republican he’d switched parties to Democrat.  No doubt he probably thought that no one else would be running on the Democratic ticket and figured he would be the automatic candidate for the Democratic Party to run against Schatzman. But to Kilby’s disappointment he had opposition to his candidacy with two other Democrats running for Sheriff.  They were Tim Wooten a former Forsyth Co. Sheriff Deputy as well and Bobby Kimbrough a former Federal Agent with ATF.  So Kilby had his work cut out for him.

Along comes Mr. Hewett

Mr. Hewett lives in King, NC which part of the city is within the borders of Forsyth County.  So whomever won the Sheriff’s race also was the Sheriff of that part of King, NC.  Mr. Hewett’s personal dealings and knowledge of Kilby put him in a position where he felt the public needed to be informed about Mr. Kilby’s, Honesty, Truthfulness & Trustworthiness which reflected upon his - Character - Integrity - Morality.  As you have read Mr. Hewett has had extensive dealings with Mr. Kilby through his interactions with American Legion Post 290 and Mr. Hewett’s run for Political Office in King, N.C. On January 10th 2018 the Facebook page ‘Veterans Against: Clifton Kilby for Sheriff’ went live. Immediately is was a big hit on the Forsyth County Democratic Party Facebook page as well as with John Cox, Kilby’s Webmaster for KilbyForSheriff.com political page. The inaugural posting January 10, 2018: This page is made to expose Clifton Kilby as an unlikely Candidate for Forsyth Co. Sheriff. We will post him lying at Stokes Co. Board of Elections and lying about Veteran Steven Hewett to the North Carolina American Legion. This is not the type of individual Forsyth Co. needs as a Sheriff. This puts into question his ability to be truthful in the courts and about his ability to run the Sheriff's Dept. in an ethical manner! This posting set off a chain of events that pitied Political Candidate for Sheriff Clifton Kilby against Citizen Steven Hewett.

Posting on the Forsyth County Democratic FaceBook Page

On January 10th Mr. Hewett was interested in finding out where and when there would be any debates held for the Sheriff Candidates and posted the question on the Democratic FB Page, which garnered a slew of responses from interested citizens, Candidate Tim Wooten and Cindy Fraser manager for Bobby Kimbrough.

Urgent Email From John Cox - Kilby’s Webmaster

This posting also caught the attention of John Cox - Kilby’s Webmaster.  The morning of January 11th at 11:30 AM Cox was in such a panic he sent an urgent email to Kilby, Rocky Joyner - Kilby’s Treasurer and Lynwood Jones. The message in this email is absolutely disturbing in what it contains and the actions Kibly took the very next day after receiving the email. We will discuss the each of the points in the email: Urgent Email:  from John Cox (Webmaster) to Clifton Kilby! Hewett, just last night (1/10/18), Posted on Democratic FB Page for Forsyth asking the question about a Meet and Debate for the Candidates for FC Sheriff As others are replying, he goes on to post his new FB Page“Veterans Against Cliff Kilby for FC Sheriff for all to see Someone else asks the question about who was the Democrat that is running that just changed from Republican  and Hewett Responds. apparently Hewett has sent Kimbrough’s Financial person a Private Message (per the comments) that I ASSUME is about Cliff and Hewett’s agenda so Kimbrough may be preparing to use this later on. Further down, Tim quotes Hewett about him being “fired up and ready to go.”  “…Kimbrough may be preparing to use this later on.” We need to be prepared as this may get ugly unless we can get a cease and desist order on Hewett or something. Also, I am unable to find an IP address for Hewett at this point so that we can block him from even viewing the website. I will continue to work on this. Just Mr. Hewett’s posting asking about candidates debates and the initial posting of the Facebook Page Veterans Against: Kilby for Sheriff set them in such a panic that the actions that Kilby took the next day are appalling to say the least.  Not only were they a grievous violation of Mr. Hewett’s constitutional rights but a slap in the face to our democratic process of the people to freely and without intimidation express our political beliefs and knowledge about candidates running for office. For Kilby to inhibit a citizens ability to express political discord and opposition to candidate(s) by using the courts to in silencing Mr. Hewett’s political speech and being a candidate who was running for the highest and most powerful law enforcement office in the county that is suppose to protect this very speech shows Kilby’s disdain, contempt, lack of respect, dishonesty, untruthfulness and untrustworthy to even hold this position.  If he was willing to do what he did to Mr. Hewett just think what he would have done to the citizens of Forsyth County that crossed his path or exercised their freedom of speech in criticizing or opposing Kilby if he had become Sheriff..
