Rosamond’s Animosity towards Mr. Hewett

Now let’s look into why Rosamond has so much animosity and has it out for Mr. Hewett to the point he would lie to bring criminal charges,  have him expelled from Post 290 and the American Legion. For this we must go back in time to the lawsuit ‘hewett v city of king’ and events during this time that Rosamond was a part and participated in. If you have not reviewed the lawsuit please do so now to be able to put into context where Rosamond’s hate is coming from. We have established that Mr. Hewett filed a complaint with the City of King in 2010 concerning the flying of a religious flag (Christian Flag), displaying a silhouette of a soldier kneeling before a Latin Cross and City sponsored Christian based Memorial and Veterans Day services. During a protest at the Veterans Memorial Mr. Rosamond was interviewed by the Winston Salem Journal; Jim [Rosamond], a member of the American Legion Post 290, said that his organization would not remove the cross from the monument. “We aren’t going to lay down for this,” [Rosamond] said. “I don’t believe in one person telling all of us what to do.” “The American Legion did not put the kneeling soldier cross monument at the memorial two years ago” (2008), the City of King commissioned and placed it at the Memorial in 2010, another lie! In an interview with Newsdesk International Mr. Rosamond was one of the first to start lying about the Kneeling Soldier Cross Silhouette in calming that the American Legion Post 290 had; Oh and this time, an American Legion Post put the monument and cross next to the veterans memorial on city-owned land.  Jim [Rosamond] said, “his post will not remove it.” Both of these statements made to the news paper are not factual.  The City of King built the monument and commissioned/contracted to have the silhouette built and placed at the Veterans Memorial, not American Legion Post 290.  Again, Mr. Rosamond misrepresenting the facts about the Memorial.   Also during the time from 2010 - 2014 the City of King made a sham Limited Public Forum policy through a lottery that allowed individuals to fly a religious flag but was restricted to only those symbols authorized on tombstones at Arlington National Cemetery.  However, it was designed to ensure that the Christian Flag would either fly all the time or the majority of the time, which it did. Mr. Rosamond by all accounts is a Christian and known to have Christian beliefs since he expresses such by carrying around the Christian Flag.  Mr. Rosamond on several occasions flew it on the Memorial Flag Pole as well as Mr. Hewett either flying none or on one occasion a Buddhist Flag.  Mr. Hewett was going to fly other religious flags but chose not to after being threatened by locals in the community.  Mr. Rosamond’s action and comments clearly indicate his dislike and animosity towards Mr. Hewett for prevailing in his lawsuit removing the Christian Flag, Cross and Christian based City sponsored services. In November of 2012 Mr. Hewett brought a lawsuit against the City of King for violating the establishment clause using veterans and the Veterans Memorial to promote Christianity on Memorial and Veterans Day.  During the initial complaint in 2010, filing of the lawsuit in 2012 and the ultimate settlement in 2015  Mr. Rosamond made several comments to the media and participated in several protests concerning the Christian Flag and the Kneeling Soldier Cross.  You can clearly hear in his tone and speech his disdain for Mr. Hewett. In October of 2010 Calvary Baptist Church in King, NC co-sponsored a “protest-rally” over the City of King’s removal of the  Christian Flag from the Memorial.  At this rally were multiple American Legion Members from different locations dressed in their full uniforms with several of those being members from Post 290 in King.  Phillip Holt being one of them who was the Christian Flag bearer leading the protest as well as Jimmie Rosamond holding a Christian Flag on the stage. Mind you no American Legion member is allowed to represent the American Legion at any Protest while being in American Legion uniform.  As a private individual they have to right to do so, but when you wear the Legion Cap and/or dress you are officially representing the American Legion. All Legion member who wore the cap or uniform were in violation of the American Legion Constitution and By-laws. At the protest the main speaking David Gibbs, III encouraged the Christian Flag waving crowd of 5000 that those in town who didn’t believe as they do should be encouraged to leave town.  What kind of American Legionnaires are these that support this type of behavior in King or that matter America the Land of the Free?  There was no condemnation of this comment from the American Legion nor from Post 290 members.  This attitude is appalling to say the least. On other occasions Mr. Rosamond participated in protests at the Veteran Memorial carrying the Christian Flag around.  It’s fine for you to carry any flag you want but the emphasis was to protest against Mr. Hewett and that their belief is that the Christian Flag belongs on a public memorial regardless the fact that not all Veterans are of the Christian faith. During the period of time that the Limited Public Forum was in effect Mr. Rosamond was interviewed by WXII 12.  In this interview you can hear is disdain for Mr Hewett in his tone and comment. He won his little lottery and it’s his time to fly, but I don’t believe in him coming over here and changing mind from one day to the next. Mr. Rosamond was upset with Mr. Hewett because he exercised his right to change the flag to no flag that day after he had been threatened by locals if he flew the Muslim Flag at the memorial. After an out of court settlement the lawsuit was officially settled in January of 2015 where the City of King paid Mr. Hewett’s $1 and the attorneys who represented him American United for Separation for Church and State $500,000.  The City removed the kneeling soldier cross silhouette giving it to Post 290 and replacing it with one that represented all US Soldiers, they discontinued the Limited Public Forum never to fly a Christian Flag on the memorial again and stopped the sponsorship of Christian services on Memorial and Veterans Day (or did they?). In February 2015 Fox 8 was apparently called by Don Holland to see the delivery of rock for the foundation of the silhouette, in this interview you can hear Don Holland and how upset he is with Mr. Hewett in having to see the empty flag pole that used to have the Christian Flag upon it.  You can also hear Rosamond expressing; Clearly, Mr. Rosamond is fuming over the removal of the Christian Flag and Cross; It does set good with me but there ain’t much I can do about it. At this time there was not much Mr. Rosamond could do about it, however, we can see that he took his revenge out on Mr. Hewett in lying in his affidavits to bring a false criminal charge and to have Mr. Hewett expelled from Post 290 and the American Legion. For someone who claims to be a Christian he may need to reread his bible Proverbs 19:9 - A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall perish. Exodus 20:16 - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Ephesians 4:25 - Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Revelation 21:8 - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Matthew 19:18 - He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Romans 13:9 - For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Bottom line we as Veterans and a Country do not honor anyone’s religion at a Veterans Memorial. We Honor only two things; Service & Sacrifice to our Nation Religion plays no part at a memorial.  We all come from different walks of life, beliefs and religion.  There is only one flag upon our uniforms, the American Flag, there is only one flag draped over the bodies of our fallen and that is the American Flag!
